Mountain Bike 40th Birthday February 6, 2011 Bottom Tier - Banana Chocolate Chunk Cake Tire Tier - Chocolate Fudge Cake Top Tier - Chai Spice Cake filled with Orange Caramel Buttercream.
This cake was designed for my own 40th birthday based on my love of mountain biking.The middle layer is a replica of my bike tire (which was very time consuming to tread and logo, but well worth the effort), the colours came from the accents on my bike gloves and the daisies are the flowers that I most often see while out on the trail. It was the perfect cake for my party which was held at an indoor bike park...

This cake was made for a very special four year old Princess...I was told by her parents that when she thought that no one was looking she gave the little frog a kiss!
At least in this case if the frog doesn't turn into a Prince, you can always eat your tiara!

This was such a fun birthday cake to create! The birthday girl is The Flintstones biggest fan (all her pets are named after characters from The Flintstones) and with her birthday being so close to Hallowe'en, we tied in the spirit of the holiday as well!

Both Tiers - Chocolate Cake iced with Whipped Buttercream

My first ever Topsy Turvy cake was a success! I was so happy that it stayed in place!

The Whipped Buttercream was a recipe test as I have been trying to come up with a "whiter" buttercream to use for wedding cakes and such. With a little tweaking this has great potential.
